LinkedIn Groups for Job SearchToday, technology can do just about anything. Yesterday, I tested my theory on my new friend, Siri. Siri is a great gal — always willing to lend a hand. The only glitch we’ve run into thus far was when I asked her to make me a sandwich. Preferably one with Colby jack cheese. She directed me to a list of local sandwich shops — not the response I was looking for, but nonetheless I appreciated her effort. My point is that in today’s tech-savvy world, we tend to rely on technology to do, well, just about everything. Which brings me to,

LinkedIn Myth #1: LinkedIn will get me a job.

Nothing is going to “get you a job”, but YOU. LinkedIn can help you find a job. On LinkedIn, you can search new job openings in your area, search Groups in your Industry for job openings, research the company/ and/or HR manager who posted the job, and connect with the HR Manager or Hiring Manager.

You can also create a Profile that hiring managers or recruiters will find, find people who work at your target companies and ask them to introduce you to the right people.

But landing a job is not a passive process. YOU need to use LinkedIn as a tool to execute these and many other job search strategies.

And the better you understand how LinkedIn, the tool, works, the more you get out of it. My “6 Weeks to More Success Through LinkedIn” VIDEO E-course will teach you how to get the most out of your LinkedIn account with step-by-step and screen-by-screen instructions, 6 informative E-books and job search strategy from a Personal and Board Certified Career & Business and Business Coach. A level of job search and business expertise you won’t get with most competing programs. Give it a try today — you’ll be surprised at just how much LinkedIn can do for you!
