LinkedIn recently added a capability to add new sections to your LinkedIn Profile:  Skills, Certifications, Publications, Languages, Projects, Patents, Test Scores, Honors and Awards, and Volunteer Experience and Causes.

The most important of these new addable sections is the “Skills” section, which not only allows you to highlight your skills, but also is believed to be part of the LinkedIn search algorithm and therefore, most likely will move you higher in searches for specific skills you possess that Recruiters, Hiring Managers, and/or Customers are looking for. There are up to 50 skills allowed.

Publications, Languages, Certifications, Patents, and Awards may not appear in the Linked search algorithm, but adding them will enhance your Personal Brand and show potential employers or customers’ additional information about the quality of your work and your capabilities.

You may want to purchase the “6 Weeks to More Success Through LinkedIn” Video E-course which has step-by-step instructions on how to add these sections.

Updating your LinkedIn Profile with all of your skills, publications, languages spoken, projects, and volunteer work will give you a competitive edge that will bring more business opportunities to you.
