(Part 3 of “LinkedIn Groups: Untapped Goldmines of Opportunity” Series)

The Gold Nugget of LinkedIn GroupsNow that you’ve staked your claim in the land of LinkedIn Groups, it’s time to find the LinkedIn Groups that can offer you the most opportunity and the most promising networking potential. In other words, it’s time to begin the Quest for the Gold Nugget of LinkedIn Groups.

Let’s begin:

Once you’ve logged in to LinkedIn, select “Groups” from the drop-down menu in the upper-left search bar. Then, either type in a keyword or just click on the blue magnifying glass icon (as indicated by the red arrow).

LinkedIn Groups Search Bar

This will bring you to a Group Directory page (see below). Use the keyword search bar (as indicated by the red arrow) to find Groups that suit your profession, target market or job search.

You can also use the Group categories drop-down menu on the right-hand side to further refine your search.

Play around with different keywords and group categories until you find a few Groups worth joining!

Also, don’t forget to look for subgroups that can help you hone in on your target market (and strike some serious gold!). For example, Job Openings, Job Leads and Job Connections! (below) is LinkedIn Group with many subgroups defined by location, areas of interest and expertise. (That’s quite a golden nugget!)

And so the quest for the Gold Nugget of LinkedIn Groups has begun! Put your freshly minted mining skills to the test and see how many quality LinkedIn Groups you can find this week. But stay tuned, for the path to Eldorado is littered with Fools Gold. Look for my next blog post where I will discuss how to evaluate whether or not to join a Group.
